PVC ID Cards vs Paper ID Cards
Which ID card material suits your organisation — durable PVC for daily use, or economical paper for events.
The choice between PVC and paper ID cards comes down to lifespan and handling, not aesthetics alone.
PVC — the same material as bank cards — handles daily swiping, wallet carrying and lanyard wear without creasing or tearing. It prints crisp, accepts gloss lamination for scratch resistance and supports duplex printing for photo-front, detail-back layouts. It is the default for employee, student and membership cards.
Paper cards cost less per piece and make sense for short-lived use: event passes, visitor badges and conference day-badges that will be discarded within hours. They are faster to produce in a rush and fine when durability beyond a day is not required.
Whatever the material, add your organisation logo, a consistent colour system and — where useful — a QR or barcode for scan-based access. Pair PVC cards with a printed lanyard and the whole system looks considered. Order quantities are flexible: small team batches through to campus-scale runs.
